On May 31, 2016, Underwater World Xiamen held special activities for local autism children. The event has served as an attempt to encourage people to be more tolerant of those with autism. Proponents of this event wish to increase the awareness of autism to the public.

Autism is a kind of neurodevelopmental disorder. The number of people affected is estimated at about 1–2 per 1,000 worldwide. There is no known cure.

The event is co-organized by Xiamen Ferry Company (Youth League Committee), Xiamen Maternity and Child Care Centers, Third Institute of State Oceanic Administration and Xiamen Port Shipping Company (general branch of Youth League).
